| PSS was the obvious choice for us for the restoration of “EIGER”, as Mike worked for three years here as the Head Shipwright on the
“Cariad restoration project”.
During that time, we have made many friends and several of them have helped us in our endeavour, each of them chosen for their particular skills.
Most products we required were available locally and/or PSS will try to source these products for you.
“EIGER” was built from Eugene Cornu plans by Vandernotte, Nantes, France in 1961.
She is mahogony carvel on acacia ribs, fastened with copper nails and roves.
The work involved was replacement of some planks with teak, all seams raked and re-caulked with English Oakum, replacement of decks with epoxy over ply, restoration/replacement of teak hatches, handrails, rubbing strakes, toerails and restoration (replacement where necessary) of fitout plus
roll and tip painting.
Photo’s of the restoration have been uploaded onto Flickr.
Search for “eiger restoration” – yacht.eiger’s photostream –
Eiger restoration story.
If we contemplated another restoration! we would not hesitate to return to PSS.
Cheers Mike and Gai
